Five mistakes to avoid while purchasing a Internet hosting service

1. Choosing a costlier hosting

 There are many people who purchase the costly web hosting services, because they think that it would best suit their website. But if you are a beginner, then it would be better to go with a smaller or cheaper hosting initially and later upgrade to premium hosting plans. By this, you will not only save large amount of money, but also learn how to optimize your website in the best way possible. If your website has less number of visitors and does not have large databases to process, then it is a waste to invest lot of money in premium hosting.

2. Choosing a cheaper/free hosting

Yes, when you choose a hosting for a eCommerce website or a website with large number of visitors, then use a better hosting plan. Using a cheap hosting will crash the website if there are many background processes running or too many people access the website at a time. Never use a free hosting service when you are serious about your online business. It may sometime ruin your entire day work also the business.

3. Ignoring the ToS

Always read the Terms of Service of the hosting service provider. Most of the time, the link to ToS will not be clearly visible or difficult to find. In such cases it would be better to contact the Customer Service of the hosting provider to ask for the details. It is important to read the ToS for many reasons, let me mention couple of them. If you have forgotten to renew the hosting, some of the hosting providers, delete the entire content of your website. You just lost all your hard work in a day. There are also some hosting providers, who do not provide backups,so in such cases if you mess up with your website, you will not be able to revert back.

4. Knowing the Customer service they provide

In case of hosting, Customer service plays a major role. There are many companies who say that they do have 24 x 7 Customer Support. But there are few of them, whom you will not be able to connect even after waiting for hours. So, it would be better to check how quickly the Website hosting providers respond for your query. It would be always better if you choose a hosting provider who provide Live Chat.

5. Choosing un-managed servers

If you are not having experience in managing the servers, then never choose VPS and Dedicated servers. To manage servers, you should have a basic knowledge in Shell programming. But if you still want to purchase VPS or Dedicated hosting, then you can go for  some of the hosting providers who provide managed servers.
